Most furniture damage doesn't happen on the highway. It happens in doorways, on stairs, and when pieces rub against each other in the truck. That's why protection starts before anything is lifted.

Upholstered chairs and sofas get a moving blanket first, then stretch wrap to hold it tight. The blanket absorbs bumps and the wrap keeps dust and dirt off the fabric. Wood furniture gets the same treatment, with extra attention to corners and legs.

Tables and bed frames are usually safer taken apart. Legs come off, hardware goes into a labeled bag taped to the piece, and the flat parts travel padded and upright.

In the truck, heavy pieces go against the front wall and on the floor, and lighter items stack on top. Everything is loaded tight so nothing can slide. A well-packed truck is the difference between a smooth move and a claim.
